How do I configure eZip to scan files for viruses?

If you have a virus scan application installed on your computer, you can scan either .ZIP files or individual files within a .ZIP file. Configure the AntiVirus feature by clicking About, then Options, then selecting the AntiVirus tab. NOTE: You must click Apply to save any changes you make!

If you have McAfee's VirusScan product installed, eZip will attempt to locate it and enter all of the settings for you. (Help for configuring other AntiVirus products is offered later in this FAQ).

  • Enable Virus Scan - When checked, this option presents menu choices for virus scanning. With this option enabled, you can select one or more files from within a .ZIP file, press the right mouse button, and choose the Virus Scan option to scan the selected files.

  • AntiVirus Program - When virus scanning is enabled you must provide the path and program that is to be used for virus scanning. Use the [Browse] button to help you locate the necessary program.

  • Command Line Parameters - If your virus scanning program also requires additional command line parameters, please enter these here.

  • AV Program can scan .ZIPs - If your virus scanning program also supports scanning files within a .ZIP file without first extracting the files, check this option. A right mouse click menu option will then be available when listing .ZIP files.

  • Always Scan .ZIP files - If option above is checked you also have the option of having eZip Wizard always prompt you to scan a .ZIP file before it is opened. Use this option if you always check your .ZIP files for viruses before use.

When virus scanning is invoked, eZip Wizard minimizes, and then your virus scan program is launched. When your virus scan program has completed its scan, close it (some programs will automatically close). eZip Wizard will then automatically restore itself.
