How does eWords calculate a score?

eWords first calculates the sum of the letters, using their individual values. It then goes back to the first letter in the word to look for a bonus square. It continues through each letter looking for bonus squares and recalculating the total each time it finds one.

For example, let's say you play the word COBRA, and the letters C and A are both on 2xWord bonus squares. Your score for that word is 36. Here's how eWords calculates it:

  1. Add the letters: 3(C) + 1(O) + 3(B) + 1(R) + 1(A) = 9
  2. Calculate the first 2xWord bonus: 2 * 9 = 18
  3. Calculate the second 2xWord bonus: 2 * 18 = 36
