How do I play with someone over the LAN?

To begin a network game, a single player must set up the game. Other players then can then "join in" to the game once it has been started. The player who begins the game must do the following. . .

  1. Choose New... from the Game menu.
  2. Enter the names of your human opponents in the "Opponents" section of the dialog box.
  3. Check the "Network Game" option.
  4. After you have set up your game (and pressed OK from the New... dialog), you will be asked for a path in which to save the game file. This file is used to keep all LAN players updated with game information. Be sure to place the game file in a directory where all users have read/write access!

The other players on the network then perform the following steps to join the game.
  1. Choose "Open..." from the "Game" menu.
  2. Choose the game file created in Step 4, above.
  3. You will be presented with a list of players. Choose the player that you represent. The game will then begin.

eWords supports Windows 95, Windows NT, Novell, Banyan, Lantastic, LAN Server and other local area networks that support DOS 3.1 record and file locking.
